The Kansas Infant Death and SIDS Network, Inc. serves those individuals who have been touched by the tragedy of infant death or SIDS and those individuals or organizations who strive to reduce the risk of infant deaths by providing supportive services, community education, professional training, and supporting associated research.

The KIDS Network was co-founded in 1998 by Ted c. and Susan E. Bredehoft of Wichita, Kansas after the death of their granddaughter, Haley Elizabeth Slaymaker (December 9, 1996 - June 16, 1997). Through their grief they reached out to family and friends to help build the Network. Part of that friend circle included Bil Keane, creator of the iconic Family Circus newspaper comic. After hearing Susan and Ted's story, Bil developed the SIDS KIDS image as shown below. The quote encompasses the Bredehoft's hope for the Network and research to eradicate infant loss.

The KIDS Network is pleased to be selected to present at the International Society for the Study and Prevention of Perinatal and Infant Death (ISPID) 2023 International Conference. The venue for the conference is Florence, Italy from October 6-8, 2023. Members of ISPID and dedicated hosts will join other delegates from around the world to further our knowledge through research initiatives and families’ experiences to improve outcomes for our future generations and protect precious lives. Safe Sleep Strategy
Safe Sleep Instructors educate parents/caregivers, child care providers, health care providers, and other community members about safe sleep practices. Instructors are taught to serve as the voice for safe sleep by promoting it through standardized training and community outreach.
